I remember as a child having family photographs taken.  It was a big deal to get dressed up, have clean shoes and socks and, ideally, not a hair out of place.  My mother always cut our bangs.  Even though she would put tape across them, they always were either too short or very crooked!  I have the pictures to prove it!!  My parents had seven children and somewhere along the way we stopped having professional family portraits taken.  It probably became too challenging to get everyone ready for family photos and then, with seven children, life just got busy!!  I know my parents still have those prints they bought so many years ago.  They will be treasured by generations for many years to come.  I always wish we had more though!

When my daughter and her young family had a recent visit I encouraged them to get outfits together and have a quick family portrait session.  My daughter was not feeling well, the kids were cranky and honestly, how many dads really want to pose for photos?  In spite of the chaos we got it done!  Little E will only have that toothless smile for a short while longer. And tiny T?  Her expressions of pure joy and innocence melt my heart!  They are changing in so many ways and so very quickly!  My wish is that they will one day look back at their prints and be grateful that their parents took the time for family photos.  I want their children to have those treasures to pass down.  What a gift that is!

Coweta Senior Portraits

My most recent sessions have been with some older and more mature clients.  While I love to photograph the babies and children, it is nice to have people in front of my camera who will take direction!  This handsome young man came in for his senior portraits.  I photographed him in the camera room, outside his home, and then went “down town” to Senoia for some shots.  He did great!  And, I didn’t even have to break out my candy stash to get him to stay in the front of the lens.  Big congratulations to him also as he recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout!

I had a very handsome and curious boy visit Legacy Portraits recently!  He came in to have his two year old photos taken.  I have to say, he did a great job following directions and I was able to get a lot of photos of him!  After some studio shots we went outside to let him run around and get more relaxed photos.  He even tested out his agility by climbing on the iron gate!  Strong boy!  One very exciting event will occur in early 2016 for this big boy!  He is going to be a big brother!  I know he is up for the task!

So much sweetness and sass all in one little 4 year old!  What a fun age to photograph!!  This was a quick mini session with one outfit, one backdrop and about 20 minutes of craziness.  She started out very somber and not too sure about having her photos taken.  A few silly jokes (apparently the word “poop” is hilarious!) and she was full of it!  I just love her expressions;  somber, shy, silly, thoughtful, curious, playful and just plain gorgeous!  I think she must watch America’s Next Top Model because she can pose and find the light!  This four year old has it.  Oh, and she is super smart too.  Photographing a 4 year old is the best!

Guatemala Mission Trip 2015

I, along with 8 others from Senoia United Methodist Church, recently took a mission trip to Guatemala.  We spent the time there working at La Senda children’s home and school.  It was an amazing experience that I will not forget!  The plan is to build a personal relationship with those at La Senda and return every year.  I know I would love to go back!  It was a lot of work but so very worth it.  The children of La Senda were so welcoming and loving.  My Spanish is nonexistent but somehow we made it work!  As the official photographer for the group, I took over 1000 photos.  Here are just some of my favorites.  As you can tell, I am a huge black and white fan!  I guess that goes back to my darkroom days!  I have put together a slideshow of images with music that can be viewed on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V69fXK4xdmQ.  We are all so very thankful for the support of the community who prayed for us, supported our fundraising efforts and made donations.
